We are collecting all sports trading cards, memorabilia and any photographs of Tookie Gilbert. He is a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA. He was signed by the New York Giants as an amateur free agent in 1947. He played 1st base in the New York Giants minor leagues from 1947-1948. He then played for the Chicago Cubs minor league team the Nashville Volunteers in 1949. He went back to the New York Giants minors in 1950 and was called up to MLB on May 5, 1950 against Pittsburgh. He went back to the New York Giants minors in 1951 and played in 1952 for the 1952 Oakland Oaks who did not have a team affiliation. In 1953, he played 70 games in MLB for the New York Giants. Gilbert played 142 games for the New Orleans Pelicans in 1959.
