From 1939-1940, he played in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system including with the 1940 New Orleans Pelicans.

He mainly spent 2014 playing for the New Orleans Zephyrs. On September 30, 2014, he was granted Free Agency and on October 22, 2014, signed as a Free Agent with the Philadelphia Phillies. He played in the Phillies minor league as well as 22 games with the Phillies. On October 23, 2015, he was granted Free Agency. He played all of 2016 with the Orix Buffaloes in the Japanese Pacific League. On December 25, 2016, he signed as a Free Agent with the Boston Red Sox.

On July 26, 1927, he was purchased by the Fort Worth Panthers from the Philadelphia Athletics. He played the rest of 1927 with Fort Worth. From 1928 to 1932 he played for various teams at various levels. He ended up playing for 21 years at various levels in 679 games.

He pitched in 3 games at the MLB level for the Phillies till May 7, 1959, when he was returned by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Boston Red Sox as part of a conditional deal. He pitched in 14 games for the Red Sox in 1959. On December 1, 1959, he was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago Cubs for Bobby Thomson. He pitched in 35 games for the Cubs until June, 1961 when he was purchased by the Minnesota Twins from the Chicago Cubs. Schroll pitched in Twins minor leagues till he retired in 1963.

He played for the Angels until December 21, 1999, when he was granted Free Agency. On January 23, 2000, he signed as a Free Agent with the Boston Red Sox. He played for the Red Sox until October 13, 2000, when he was granted Free Agency. On November 15, 2000, he signed as a Free Agent with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He played for the Devil Rays till 2002. From 2003-2007, he played in the Japanese Central League for the Hiroshima Carp and Hanshin Tigers.

He pitched both in the Orioles minor league and at the MLB Level until July 12, 2007, when he was released by the Baltimore Orioles. He also pitched for the Newark Bears in the Atlantic League. From 2010-2011, he pitched for the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League.

On March 21, 2017, he signed as a Free Agent with the St. Louis Cardinals. He is currently playing with the Memphis Redbirds.
