We are collecting all sports cards, memorabilia and any photographs of Charlie Gilbert. He is a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA. He played outfield in the Brooklyn Dodgers minor leagues from 1939-1940. He played in 57 games for the Dodgers at the MLB level in 1940. In 1941, he played in the Dodgers minors leagues then on May 6, 1941, he was traded by the Brooklyn Dodgers with Johnny Hudson and $65,000 to the Chicago Cubs for Billy Herman. He played for the Cubs in 39 games that year. In 1942, he played in 8 games for the Cubs and the rest he was in the Cubs minor league. From 1944-1945, he was in the military. In 1946, he played in 15 games for the Cubs when on June 15, 1946, he was purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies from the Chicago Cubs. He played the rest of 1946 in 88 games for the Phillies. He played all of 1947 with the Phillies. Gilbert ended his career in 1948 with the 1948 Nashville Volunteers.
