We are collecting all sports trading cards, memorabilia and any photographs of Steve Mura. He is a graduate of Redemptorist High School in New Orleans, LA. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 2nd round of the 1976 MLB June Amateur Draft from Tulane University. He pitched in the Padres minor league system from 1976-1978. He pitched with the Padres from 1979-1981. On December 10, 1981, he was traded by the San Diego Padres with a player to be named later and Ozzie Smith to the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later, Sixto Lezcano and Garry Templeton. The San Diego Padres sent Al Olmsted (February 19, 1982) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade. The St. Louis Cardinals sent Luis DeLeon (February 19, 1982) to the San Diego Padres to complete the trade. He pitched for the Cardinals in 1982. He was a member of the Cardinals’ 1982 World Series winning team. On January 26, 1983, he was chosen by the Chicago White Sox from the St. Louis Cardinals as a Free Agent compensation pick. He mainly pitched for the White Sox AAA club and 6 games at the MLB level. On March 26, 1984, he was released by the Chicago White Sox. On April 5, 1984, he signed as a Free Agent with the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched for the Phillies AAA affiliate until October 31, 1984, when he was released by the Phillies.
On March 11, 1985, he signed as a Free Agent with the Oakland Athletics. He pitched both for the Athletics AAA affiliate and 23 games for the A’s in 1985.
