We are collecting all sports cards, memorabilia and any photographs of Howie Pollet. He is a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans, LA. He was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1939. He pitched in the Cardinals minor leagues from 1939-1941. He was called up to play for the Cardinals in 9 games in 1941. He stayed at the MLB level with the Cardinals from 1942-1943. He served in the military in 1944-1945. From 1946-1951 he played for the Cardinals, when on June 15, 1951, he was traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Dick Cole, Joe Garagiola, Bill Howerton and Ted Wilks to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Cliff Chambers and Wally Westlake. He played for the Pirates till June 4, 1953, when he was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Joe Garagiola, Ralph Kiner and George Metkovich to the Chicago Cubs for Bob Addis, Toby Atwell, George Freese, Gene Hermanski, Bob Schultz, Preston Ward and $150,000. On October 3, 1955, he was released by the Chicago Cubs. On April 16, 1956, he was signed as a Free Agent with the Chicago White Sox. He played for the White Sox till July 13, 1956, when we was released by the Chicago White Sox. Pollet signed as a Free Agent with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 16. 1956 and played until October 8, 1956, when he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is a 3 time All Star in 1943, 1946 & 1949.
