From 2000-2001, he played in the minors for the Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox. He finished 2001 playing in the Independent Leagues for the Camden Riversharks and Nashua Pride.

On January 29, 2000, he signed as a Free Agent with the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched in the Phillies minor league system in 2000 as well as 4 games at the MLB level. He was again granted free agency at the end of the 2000 season. On February 8, 2001, he was signed as a Free Agent with the Cleveland Indians. Played in the Indians minors but on April 23, 2001, released. He then pitched for the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League when on June 6, 2001, he was purchased by the Chicago White Sox from Somerset. He was sent to their AAA affiliate Charlotte Knights where he pitched in 36 games. At the end of the season, he was granted free agency. On December 21, 2001, he signed as a Free Agent with the Houston Astros. He was assigned to the New Orleans Zephyrs and till 2004, played with the Zephyrs as well as the MLB level with the Astros. He finished his career with the 2005 Indianapolis Indians in the Pittsburgh Pirates minors.

He also played for their AA team in St. Paul. He spent 1946-1947 playing for the St. Paul Saints. He finished his playing career with the New Orleans Pelicans in 1948 which at that time was now a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate.

From 1943-1947, he pitched for the Browns. Then on November 17, 1947, he was traded by the St. Louis Browns with Vern Stephens to the Boston Red Sox for Pete Layden, Joe Ostrowski, Roy Partee, Eddie Pellagrini, Al Widmar, Jim Wilson and $310,000. He played for the Red Sox until March 26, 1950, when he was purchased by the New York Giants from the Boston Red Sox. He played for the Giants until May 28, 1951, when he was signed as a Free Agent with the New York Yankees. He finished out 1952 playing in the minors for the Cleveland Indians. In 1959, he came out of retirement to pitch in 6 games for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Landry played four seasons in the CFL, coming North initial to sign as a free agent with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in December of 1986. Landry played just one game with Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats released Landry in September 1987 and he was picked up almost immediately by the Toronto Argonauts. In 9 games (half a season) with the Argos, Landry recorded 47 defensive tackles, 3 quarterback sacks and 3 interceptions. Landry put up very similar numbers in the first 9 games of 1988 with Toronto, recording 49 defensive tackles and 5 interceptions. At that point, halfway through the 1988 season, Landry was abruptly traded to Calgary. Landry would add another interception and 33 tackles in six games with the Stampede. Finally getting a chance to play a full season with the same team in 1989, Landry wracked up a league leading 122 defensive tackles, recorded 2 sack and had 3 interceptions. Landry finished his CFL career in 1990 with the BC Lions, and had 52 tackles in 13 games. In 1992, he played for the Tampa Bay Storm in the AFL. Landry played his college ball at Louisiana Tech.

On October 3, 1955, he was released by the Chicago Cubs. On April 16, 1956, he was signed as a Free Agent with the Chicago White Sox. He played for the White Sox till July 13, 1956, when we was released by the Chicago White Sox. He signed as a Free Agent with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 16. 1956 and played until October 8, 1956, when he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is a 3 time All Star in 1943, 1946 & 1949.

He appeared in 138 games, largely as a second baseman and shortstop, over four seasons (1965–1968) for the San Francisco Giants. Schroder signed with the Giants in 1964 after attending Loyola University New Orleans. After a partial rookie pro season spent in the low minor leagues, Schroder was promoted to San Francisco's 40-man roster for 1965 and stayed with the MLB team all season. Under the amended 1962 bonus rule, Major League clubs were compelled to keep players like Schroder on their 25-man roster for their first full season in baseball or risk losing them to another team. Schroder, 20, got into only 31 games and had only ten plate appearances for the contending 1965 Giants. He then split the 1966–1968 campaigns between San Francisco and the Triple-A Phoenix Giants. In 1967, he played in 62 games for San Francisco and logged 135 at bats, his MLB career highs. All told, he batted .217 during his time with the Giants; his 48 hits included five doubles and one triple. St. Aloysius High School alum.

He started off with the home team New Orleans Pelicans in 1943. After serving in the service, he returned to the New Orleans Pelicans in 1947 and was obtained by the Boston Red Sox from New Orleans Pelicans as part of a minor league working agreement. He stayed in the Red Sox minor league system till 1949. On November 17, 1949, he was Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates from the Boston Red Sox in the 1949 rule 5 draft. He played at the MLB level for the Pirates until August 18, 1952, when he was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Ted Wilks to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later, Johnny Berardino and $50,000. The Cleveland Indians sent Charles Sipple (minors) (October 16, 1952) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade. Strickland played for the Indians till 1960.

He ended his career with the Lafayette Bulls in the Evangeline League.
